The quick recovery of losses and securing profits are two of the main goals of D'Alembert progressive baccarat. This system carefully progresses in bets in limited increments. But if we want real action that builds profits faster, we opt for another D'Alembert version.
For aggressive baccarat players the alternative is counter D'Alembert. Its bet progression is aggressive and seeks to exploit a winning trend when it happens. The complete opposite of D'Alembert as far as betting is concerned, counter D'Alembert adds to the bets a unit per win, and stops only when the winning trend is cut short by a loss.
The logic here is that while the winning trend is on, we have to take advantage of it and build our profits fast. The moment we hit a sudden losing round, we lose a hefty amount due to the one unit increase per win. This system would be much better if equipped with a prompt stop on a certain limit on the number of wins.
Say, we bet $5 initially. In 7 bets this amounts to $35. If we stop there the profits would be attractive enough than if we lose almost everything if we lose on the 7th bet. The counter system is often done to even bets—something close to a half-half betting scheme. The counter system is able to daringly explore the areas where D'Alembert has restricted itself to tread. It will be a good idea to use both systems, alternating them to exploit both their advantages.
In the counter system, when we hit a losing round, we subtract a unit from the amount of the previous bet, and that will be our current bet. If we bet $2 and win, we bet again this time with $4. If we lose, we subtract a unit, and that means we bet $2 again. When we use small bet amounts the counter system doesn't seem so daring. But with higher wagers this system can get too challenging.
When we have the winning streaks appearing, we apply the counter system. Yet, question here is how do we know that a win or two in succession is really the start of a winning streak? For all we know, we might win two games and lose on the third—which is a common occurrence in baccarat. Two wins in a row is not a workable situation for any progressive baccarat.
Counter progressive baccarat is when we want a quick way to build our winnings.
